Bloody Rainbow

Black man, why do you hate me?

Why do you ridicule me for the way I walk, talk, love, and live?

Why don't you see that we are one in the same.

Look in the mirror and see a reflection of me within yourself.

Look at your history book and remember a time when you were alienated, beaten, and ridiculed for living in your truth.

Look at me and understand that I am just like you, black man.

I love you, black man.

I fight for you, black man.

I respect you, black man.

But I don't want to fear you, black man.

I just ask for all of those things in return.

When I see injustice happen to you, I scream to the rooftops "Black Lives Matter"

But if I were to receive that same injustice, why don't you do the same?

Does my Black Gay Life Matter?

Is it in God's plan to see my brown body lifeless under a gun from a cop?

Is it in God's plan to see a bloody rainbow pour out from my body as my soul seeks refuge in the sky?

Fight for me as I fight for you.

Love on me as I love on you.

Acknowledging my presence will not make you a "faggot"

Acknowledging my presence will not "turn you gay"

Acknowledging my presence will only show that you're "human"

Don't just be my brother for our skin color

Be the savior in this world of naysayers.

Don't allow them to take me down and expose my bloody rainbow.
